1. Eat snacks
Don’t allow yourself to get ravenous. Your brain literally goes into panic mode when you get too hungry and you lose the ability to make good decisions. Always have a snack on hand – I never leave the house without one – and eat your meal when you are hungry, not starving.
2. Use Cinnamon Instead of Sugar in Your Tea or Coffee
Rather than using cream and sugar, try cinnamon powder to add a sweet flavor to your tea or coffee. Not only does cinnamon have fewer calories than cream and sugar, it has numerous health benefits.
3. Try the Age-Old Practice of Oil Pulling
According to the Academy of General Dentistry, oral health has a direct impact on your overall health. Good oral health even reduces the risk of health problems like strokes and heart disease.
One easy and simple oral health hack is oil pulling, an age-old Ayurvedic practice.
4. Take a Cold Shower before Bedtime
The right body temperature is essential in getting a good night’s rest. When you take a cold shower before going to bed, your body temperature drops, which helps you fall asleep faster and enjoy a better overall quality of sleep.
Taking a cold shower at night also improves blood circulation, reduces stress and even relieves symptoms of depression.
A 2008 study published in Medical Hypotheses found that adapted cold showers work as a potential treatment for depression.
5. Follow the 20/20/20 Rule for Your Eyes
Take care of your eyes by following the 20/20/20 rule, a very simple and effective eye health hack.
Many of us spend a good deal of time staring at screens on laptops, computers, smart phones, gaming systems and the television. This puts a lot of strain on the eyes and can cause eye fatigue.
Eye strain can lead to itchy eyes, dry eyes, blurred vision, headaches, increased sensitivity to light and poor concentration.
6. Drink water
Add sliced lemon and cucumber – this tastes way more satisfying than regular water and tricks you into drinking more and eating less – and it feels fancy.
7. Be mindful
Stop before you take a bite. Smell your food. Observe your body and your sense of hunger. Chew slowly. Breathe. Take a sip of water. Get off your phone.
8. Meditate for 10 Minutes Daily
Meditation is an age-old practice that everyone should try for at least 10 minutes daily.
It works as a type of mind-body complementary medicine. As it produces a deep state of relaxation and a calm mind, it enhances physical and emotional well-being.
9. Add veggies
Make a mediocre meal crazy healthy. You want pasta? Cut up a zucchini, some fresh tomatoes, broccoli, onion and garlic and throw it in the skillet for four minutes with some olive oil. Add your marinara sauce to the veggie mix then put it on top of your pasta. Not only is your meal tastier, it’s way healthier.
10. Drink Lemon Water First Thing in the Morning
For a healthier you, instead of drinking plain water, coffee or tea first thing in the morning, drink lemon water.
This morning drink gets your organs going, due to its detoxifying nature. Not just morning, drinking lemon water throughout the day can help alkalize, or neutralize, acid in the body.
Lemon is not alkaline in nature, but it has a low sugar content and high alkaline mineral content, which offers an alkalizing effect on the body.
